We are looking for a football coach with a passion for inspiring and developing young players and striving for excellence.


The successful post holder will have experience developing a performance football programme and be an ambitious, forward-thinking, hardworking coach to lead our established Women and Girls Football Academy.


A key focus will be on creating a positive learning environment that demands high levels of challenge but also high levels of support.


OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:


The college is now in its second year of running a full time Women and Girls performance football academy and has been accepted into the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) Womens Performance League for the 2023/24 season providing a fantastic opportunity to coach at the highest level within college sport.

Our vision is to ensure that the Women and Girls Football programme sees the College perform on a National stage, in line with our other male and female academy programmes.


The role holder will be responsible for the overall management of the Women and Girls football academy, including the planning and delivery of football training sessions to our Women and Girls team.


The role holder will also be responsible for the continuous active recruitment of female students onto the Women and Girls football academy.


Bishop Burton College includes the Riseholme College campus and the postholder may be required to carry out duties at both campuses.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plan, deliver and review football training sessions for the Women and Girls team at the college.
  • Engage and retain new female players in regular recreational football activity at the college.
  • Engage and retain new students to support the recreational teams within the college.
  • Complete administrative duties to support the efficient running of our Women and Girls team ensuring robust monitoring and evaluation to ensure impact is understood.
  • Attend weekly departmental meetings with the football department and commercial sport department.
  • To engage with and commit to weekly meetings with the Head Football Performance coach at the college to allow for support in relation to coaching methods and core skills.
  • With the support of the Director of Football create, implement and action a recruitment plan to support the college in the active recruitment of female students locally and nationally to retain and grow our football programme.
  • Support the Director of Football in the active retention of female students onto Higher Education provision at the college through the Women and Girls football programme.
  • Achieve and retain ECFA Women's Performance League status annually for our performance academy.
  • Liaise with the Strength and conditioning and Physiotherapy Teams.
  • Complete any CPD opportunities available to ensure personal and professional development.
  • Take part in all staff College events such as Lambing Sunday and Open Farm Sunday.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications & Training
Essential

  • FA Level 2 coaching qualification
  • BTEC L3 or 3 A Levels equivalent (including Cs/4s or above in English and Maths)
Desirable

  • FA UEFA B coaching qualification (or working towards)

Experience & Abilities
Essential

  • Experience in coaching football (ideally 2 years)
  • Experience of different coaching methods
Desirable

  • Experience of volunteering or coaching within the further education sector
  • A general understanding and experience of the further education sector
