We care for patients with haematological cancers, sickle cell disease and other haematology diseases.Our aim is to provide expert care to allow patients to avoid hospital admissions and to manage their disease in an ambulatory setting.
We are seeking experienced senior nurses to join our team as a Senior Staff Nurse on the Haematology Day Unit.
We are currently open Monday to Friday 08.Shift patterns at present are 9.5 hour shifts per week.We do not currently work weekends or bank holidays regularly, however occasionally work out of hours to support the service and eventually we may aim for weekends to be permanent in the future.
We are seeking experienced and motivated nurses to join our team on the Haematology Day Unit.We are seeking nurses that are eager to develop their clinical skills and competence and want to be future leaders within haematology nursing in an ambulatory setting.
You will have the opportunity to further develop and enhance your skills within a haemato-oncology setting with the support and training necessary.
We are seeking candidates with a strong desire to deliver the best individualized care to patients living with haematological diseases by working as an effective part of the nursing and wider team.
The successful candidate will have at least 1 year experience in haematology and acute setting and will be committed to developing their skills, knowledge, and leadership in a fast paced setting.
Opportunities for the right candidate include developing skills in apheresis, expert cannulation assisted by ultrasound, femoral line placement, and bone marrow biopsy skills.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced nurses and specialists to develop and gain a plethora of skills to enhance your nursing ability.
Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilstworking as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised andpersonalised direct patient care.
Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment,planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includeshistory taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreeddiagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.Act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patientorientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards withinthe NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patientexperience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs anddoctrines.
**RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. BSC/ degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experienceEvidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD

Experiencing of co-ordinating a shift
Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives.
An understanding of audit and research based nursing practice.To include dealing with distressed relatives, care of terminally ill & other challenging situations
Ability to organise and plan own time and that of junior staff and learners.
Demonstrate an awareness of clinical governance and risk management and how this effects their role and the department
You will be able decide how best to achieve expected results, whilst acting within clearly defined policies/ procedures and codes of conduct.
Microsoft Word /Excel skillsAble and willing to work flexible shift patterns, internal rotation to day and night duty and unsocial hours, according to service needs
