    Mission Details

    Role Purpose

    To ensure the team are working to the highest Safety, Quality and Environmental standards, making sure the Arkema Essentials are not compromised.

    To lead and monitor the manufacture of the various products within the department, working in line with departmental objectives. Ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the processes, plant and human resources in order to achieve production targets within customer Quality and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

    To ensure close liaison with the Management Team including Planners, communicating day to day manufacturing issues in order to achieve the most efficient, responsive and effective operation possible.

    To lead the training and development of all department operators and to raise the knowledge and awareness of the critical process variables and product quality requirements expected by our customers.

    To develop and promote a co-operative culture between the Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and SHEQ departments for the swift resolution of processing or mechanical problems that arise during normal operations.

    To ensure all policy's, procedures and processes are followed to the current site standards.

    Principal Duties


    • Via close liaison with the Management Team, supervise the day to day running of the department, maintaining efficient and safe working practices to meet or exceed customer expectations ensuring both external and Company standards are achieved.


    • Ensure that a communication path is in place, keeping the operators informed and focused on the department and business objectives, ensuring all information is communicated to the operators by delivering briefs to the team.


    • Investigate and resolve, via close liaison with the Management Team, any process or plant problems that reduce the efficiency and flexibility of the plant or quality of the products manufactured.


    • Ensure that plant repairs and maintenance are carried out promptly, following H&SE guidelines and that equipment is submitted for repair and returned for use in the required state.


    • As and when necessary, implement and support risk assessments in accordance with the Company's risk assessment system.


    • Encourage and extend 5S to ensure a high level of housekeeping is maintained throughout the department.


    • Report to the Management Team at regular intervals ensuring effective and comprehensive communication regarding production issues and providing details of the plants performance.


    • Through liaison with the Engineering Team, agree priorities for any breakdown or preventative maintenance, taking into account other department's priorities.


    • Operate the SAP and T&A systems. Determine priorities, schedules and trace batch progress through each of the process stages to ensure accurate stock records and usage of raw materials. Determine holiday approval depending on availability of others and within the company guidelines.


    • Completing and maintaining all documentation as required by the Management Team ensuring it's completed to the required standard including but not limited to, training files, safety / quality audits, briefing sign off, holiday forms & accident reporting and Management of change (MOC).

    Required Profile

    KEY CHALLENGES

    There are five critically important areas:

    1. Ensure the safety of your teams and have a continual improvement attitude to safety and housekeeping, while working closely with your fellow Team Leader for a one-voice approach.

    2. Maximisation of production utilising all labour within the scope of responsibility, complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations, to meet the weekly production schedules.

    3. Ensure a rapid response to equipment failure, carrying out any necessary preparation to allow the safe hand-over to maintenance for repair.

    4. Monitor and ensure that all operating and process instructions are followed, taking corrective action as necessary against anyone failing to meet the required standard, by either additional training or other courses of action.

    5. Provide on the job training and development, in line with the individual's skills matrix to enhance team flexibility.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


    • The individual will ideally have at least three years' experience in a leadership position.


    • Being familiar with modern manufacturing methods is essential.


    • Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and manufacturing processes.


    • Customer and quality driven with a pragmatic approach and results driven orientation.


    • Competent is the use of computers and using programs such as Outlook, Teams, Word & Excel.
