Children and Families Information Service Specialist Officer**
Salary: £24,295 FTE**
Location: Bases in Aylesford, Ashford and Whitstable**

The Education People are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Children & Families Information Service Specialist Officer with outstanding communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional support and advice to families and childcare providers.


In this vital role, you will deliver a professional, confidential, and impartial specialist service focused on the Early Years and Childcare agenda.

You will provide invaluable information and advice to the public, support existing and prospective childcare providers, and supply critical data to Kent County Council, The Education People, and other external agencies as required.


Key Duties:


  • Maintain the CFIS (Open Objects) database and online Childcare Directory, ensuring it is current, accurate and GDPR compliant. Support providers with directory account issues.
  • Manage data requests from the public, Kent County Council (KCC) and The Education People (TEP) and other agencies, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements of KCC and TEP and the Kent Information Sharing Agreement.
  • Collate and report on Early Education and Childcare Entitlement concerns around delivery compliance and funding appeals, providing recommendations to the relevant teams and line manager
  • Provide information on the Ofsted registration process to potential new providers, signposting to the Early Years and Childcare Service (EYCS). Provide information to the Early Years and Childcare Service as required on newly registered providers.
  • Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, Early Education and Childcare Entitlements and update partner teams accordingly.

What we need from you

  • Educated to Level 3 standard with a Level 2 in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications
  • Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills
  • A working knowledge of childcare legislation and Government support with childcare costs
  • Familiarity with the Open Objects database package would be desirable
  • A good understanding of the Early Years and Childcare Service, partner agencies and their services
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work effectively on own initiative and function effectively as part of a team
  • IT literate with the ability to manage complex databases and present information on Excel spreadsheets
