Overview of Organisation and job role
Heavy Sound is a non-profit organisation, registered as a community interest company, based in East Lothian. We have been providing services for over 7 years for marginalised young people and adults.
The new part-time role of Youth Practitioner/Bus Driver has been created to facilitate the delivery of a 3-year youth work project across the areas of Port Seton, Musselburgh and Fa'side.
Heavy Sound will be working in collaboration with East Lothian Council's Connected Communities Service to deliver additional youth work activities to existing evening youth clubs.
This will involve bringing our bus, The Crib, along to youth clubs and running various activities from it.Activities will mainly be music and bike-based consisting of DJ-ing, electronic music production and basic bike mechanics.
A part-time youth worker whose main responsibility will be to safely drive the bus to and from storage to the youth clubs in the areas and assist with set-up, delivery and take down is now required.
Although physically a bus it is important to note that only a normal Category B driving license is required as the vehicle doesn't carry passengers and is classed as a 'mobile project vehicle' by DVLA.
