The Focus of the Role:


The Managing Editor is an integral part of the Premium and Entertainment teams - this is an exciting and diverse role where no two days are the same.


The main purpose of the
Managing Editor is to assist the Editorial teams and the Publishing Management team in day-to-day tasks and processes relating to budgets, team management and admin.

Keeping track of budgets is essential, as is keeping in constant communication with Editors and Section heads to ensure that budgets are being met.

This is a super exciting and diverse role where no two days are the same.


Reporting to the Publisher, the Managing Editor is also key to helping the Publishing Management team with information they may need whether that's regarding budgets, people queries, new product development or other financial information.

As the bridge between Editorial and HR, Accounts and Management, this role oversees a wide variety of tasks alongside fantastic teams.


Role Responsibility:


  • Work with Publisher & Editor to help implement the editorial vision/plans within agreed budget (across print and digital)
  • Support Editors with team management and recruitment
  • Assist the Editorial teams in full recruitment process
  • Work with other key people across Editorial, HR, Accounts and Management
  • Complete Editorial spend reports at month end of each of the titles
  • Oversee and continually update Editorial budgets
  • Cost analysis on any new product ideas/specials
  • Raise POs for freelancers, approve timesheets, and set up new suppliers
  • Troubleshoot payment and billing queries
  • Look after the company credit card and put through expenses
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and friendly attitude
  • Experience with team management and recruitment
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • An understanding of monthend process is desired (but not essential)
  • Ability to multitask and work to deadlines
