Wyman-Gordon is a world leading manufacturer of Nickel, Titanium and Steel alloy forgings for the aerospace, defence and energy sectors.

Part of the major American corporation, PCC, we are a global manufacturer of complex metal components and supply products worldwide to our prestigious blue-chip customers.

We currently have vacancies for Forge Inspector who will be an integral part of the wider forge team. Applicants must be time served, with an HNC in an Engineering.

Shifts
Your basic working hours are 37 hours per week.

Three Shifts rotation hours are:

Monday - Thursday

Early Shift_ _6am to 2.00pm_
-
Back Shift_ _2pm to 10.00pm_
-
Night Shift_ _10pm to 6.00am_

20 minutes unpaid meal break (to be taken at a time to suit the Company)_

Friday
-
Early_ _Shift 6am to 12.20pm_
-
Back_ _Shift 12:20pm to 6.40pm_
-
Night_ _Shift 6:40pm to 1am_

Main duties and responsibilities of the position are:

To support the site in pursuing business objectives
To assist with the identification, development and implementation of operational improvements
To ensure continuity of production of quality parts ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
To ensure that quality, cost and delivery are continually improved.
To ensure that all work meets customer (internal and external) expectations on delivery and quality.
To be flexible and adaptable including movement between work areas, overtime and shift changes to support the site in case of unexpected absence or die backlog.
To rotate to any area within the inspection department that is required

These areas include:
Hot Forge

Marking off

Pipe Shop

Die and Aircraft

Template checking

Carry out both simple and complex numerical computations involving decimals and fractions.
Inspection of templates, final dies and part finished dies.
Inspection of machining operations on various machines.
Carrying out hot forge inspection of forged components and dies for set ups.
Carrying out black forge inspection of machined and pre machines aircraft parts.
Setting up jigs and fixtures for various machine shop operations.

To ensure that high standards of health, safety and housekeeping are met.

To carry out housekeeping audits across the unit if required
To use the appropriate personal protective equipment
To assist with undertaking risk assessments and reassessments
To undertake weekly inspections as required
To monitor and assist with the implementation of safe systems of work
To comply with legislative requirements
To undertake daily forklift truck and crane checks
To develop efficient working processes and seeks ways to continuously improve all aspects of your own job.
To work to established process methods, reporting any deviations and correcting these as necessary.
To participate in continuous improvement activities.
To work to achieve the performance measures identified within the team.
To assist in aiding twoway communications.
To identify own training needs with your team leader and assist with training others if competent and designated as a trainer.
To undertake additional training within work area in line with the company needs.
To undertake any other role within skill capability as specified by the Team Leader that may be required to fulfil the needs of the business.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Time served engineer. (HNC)
Must have a high degree of numerical ability.
Knowledge and experience in quality systems and procedures
Previous experience working within a Team

Knowledge of reading and interpreting computer blueprints, sketches and process sheets is desirable, as well as using a variety of precision measuring instruments

Salary:
£34,846.56-£35,566.42 per year
