Were looking for an experienced, meticulous sub-editor to join the Content Team at London Marathon Events (LME) on a full-time basis.
You will work as part of a team of four and will be responsible for editing, rewriting, fact-checking and proofing a variety of copy anything from website training features, participant newsletters and road-closure leaflets to Event Day signage.
Youll have a keen eye for detail and relish the challenge of ensuring all copy adheres to the LME Style Guide and our tone of voice.
Youll also have the opportunity to work as part of the content team across London Marathon Events varied portfolio of world-class running, cycling and swimming events, including the TCS London Marathon and the Ford RideLondon festival of cycling.
Responsibilities:
- Rewriting, editing and proofing copy including features, newsletters and a variety of event collateral (such as elite race manuals, volunteer handbooks and participant Event Guides)
- Assisting with updating business as usual event collateral (such as road closure leaflets, PA scripts and local access plans)
- Ensuring LMEs websites, entry systems and all online collateral are delivered to a high standard
- Ensuring all LME collateral adheres to the LME Style Guide and owning and updating the guide as necessary
- Working with internal departments to ensure accuracy of information and tone of voice across the organisation
- Understanding the customer journey for each of our events and helping to create newsletters and other content that supports the participant from sofa to Start Line
- Contributing to content planning within the Marketing and Communications Team
- Working in the Media Team at LMEs events (involves some weekend working)
- Assisting with production tasks at events, such putting together race reports and interviewing participants
- Supporting LMEs vision of Inspiring Activity
Essential skills and experience needed:

Essential:
- Excellent standard of grammar and spelling
- Meticulous attention to detail and factchecking
- Proven experience as a subeditor
- Proven experience managing multiple projects
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop
Desired:
- An understanding of, or an interest in, mass participation and/or sports events
- Previous experience doing interviews
