Payroll Administrator, Rotherham - part time, 3 days per week


Based on the outskirts of Rotherham, my client is a large manufacturing business with a long-standing record of excellent customer service.

Due to internal movements, they are now recruiting a suitably experienced Payroll Administrator, to work 3 days perweek, assisting the Finance & Payroll Officer in the accurate and timely payment of salaries and pensions, and to maintain the Time and Attendance system with data transmission to the payroll software.


Responsibilities of the Payroll Administrator include:

  • Maintain the Time and Attendance system by verifying and correcting time records, creating shifts and maintaining employees' profiles
  • Revision of overtime and absence in the timekeeping system
  • Uploading hourly data to payroll software and balancing batches for assigned pay groups
  • Undertake all relevant calculations for new starters, leavers, and amendments
  • Processing monthly payroll data pack for two pay groups (T&A, absence, overtime, allowances, holiday pay, deductions, fuel claims)
  • Recording and monitoring of SSP, SMP, PPS
  • Processing of voluntary deductions (healthcare insurance, childcare)
  • Processing payment requests from third party providers (DWP, DEA, HMCT)
  • Administrate benefitinkind data and ensure all P11D changes are registered accurately and timely
  • Assist with the monthly reconciliation of PAYE payments
  • Providing information and answering employee questions about payrollrelated matters
  • Processing of purchase ledger invoices
  • Preparation of quotations
  • Periodic reporting

Person specification for the Payroll Administrator:

  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in payroll processing
  • Understanding of tax procedures, familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions is essential
  • Payroll qualification and knowledge of Payroll software ADP will be advantageous but not essential
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Willing to develop in other finance areas (Purchase Ledger etc.)
  • Confident, polite, friendly and professional manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload

Benefits of the Payroll Administrator:
- £22,000-£25,000 full time equivalent
