About the role Balfour Beatty
have an exiting new opportunity for a Training Programme Lead** to join the Technical Training team in our Power T&D Business.


You will lead the delivery of training and competence provision, the role will focus on leading the identification and design of plans to deliver the training and competence requirements across Power.


Key Accountabilities:


  • To lead the design and implementation of training plans that manage expiries and competences within area of responsibility
  • To support the Operational areas in all aspects of their training needs, initial review and planning, design and delivery schedule
  • Support and drive a compliant and professional service in line with the Company strategy.
  • Advise operations of any change in training requirements and legislation, ensuring a plan of action is implemented to meet needs
  • Monitor and lead with Matrix compliance and forecasting of Budget's and CITB returns
  • To design training initiatives to provide continual business improvement

What you'll be doing Responsibilities**:


  • Design, develop and implement effective training programmes for the Power business apprentices, trainees, winter training, etc.
  • Facilitate the management team and senior operational leads to set the direction for the department in line with business goals and customer service values.
  • Support Operational teams to deliver high quality services
  • Training solutions to the business and identification of potential solutions for Training.
  • Ensure high quality Training is delivered working seamlessly with the Training Delivery team and Operational teams, aligned to business targets.
  • Working with the Lead IQA, ensure legal compliance for the business within a framework of business improvement and a satisfying working environment.
  • To support the Training Administrators by ensuring clarity of all training programmes and the requirements to deliver each element
  • Work with and advise areas of spend vs. Budget
  • To be aware of leading edge thinking and practice in Training and take the lead in introducing new ideas with the Training Manager/Lead IQA
  • To facilitate and maintain effective communication links with the Operations teams and training centres
  • To benchmark Training against the best external organisations and lead the transfer of best practice into Training and the Organisation
  • To always promote a professional image in support of the companies and department values
  • To ensure that you develop your capabilities through continuing professional development
  • To carryout any additional responsibilities from time to time in line with business needs

Who we're looking for Skills Required**:

  • Knowledge of the Training environment and awarding body working methodology
  • Competent in use of MS Office
  • Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Consultation skills and facilitation of senior people
Advantage but not Essential

  • Supervisor/management qualification
  • CIPD/CPD accreditation (or equivalent)
  • Operational experience in construction or utilities
  • A good working knowledge and an understanding of current training awarding bodies
  • Knowledge of industry specific Training requirements
  • EUSR/CAA/City & Guilds/CPCS.
  • Awareness of funding opportunities
