James Glancy Design is looking to supplement their team with a Rigging Assistant.


This is a Freelance position so a UTR is required or be prepared to register as Self Employed.


Key responsibilities

  • Operating a scissor lift (IPAF Required)
  • Safe use of hauling and lifting equipment in line with company policy
  • Rigging and assembly of decorations following instruction
  • Development of rigging plan with technical design team
  • Decoration production; assembly, lighting and dressing
  • Set up and pack down and project and prototypes
  • Use of correct safety measures for work at hand (Cordons, PPE, etc.)
  • Clear management of space, materials and resources
  • Provide leadership to less experienced team members
  • Carry out basic workshop tasks under supervision of Workshop supervisor
  • Development of prototyping concepts with Designers and project managers

Essential skills

  • Experience operating, hauling and rigging
  • IPAF qualification
  • Use of steel wire rope systems
  • Experience in fast paced environment
  • Able to work in a team
  • Good time keeping and professional attitude
  • Ability to work from drawings and verbal instruction
  • Committed to H&S rules and control measures

Beneficial Experience

  • Theatre / set / events building experience.
  • Production Experience / Workshop competency
  • Full driving licence
  • Forklift driver
