The Opportunity
Our work enables Parliament to run smoothly, function efficiently and operate securely.
And when you join us in the vital role of Head of Digital Infrastructure, you'll use all your technical gifts and supportive teamworking skills as you lead the delivery, management and improvement of the UK Parliament's digital infrastructure.
This is a role where you'll be responsible for the underpinning tech that everyone who works in Parliament relies on.
You'll head up the management of networks, identity management and data centres, and key to your success will be your brilliant customer service and rock solid cyber security protocols.
As you'll be leading a multi-disciplinary group of specialists and working closely with external partners, it goes without saying that you'll be energetic, motivating and collaborative, and ready to set the technical and strategic direction of the team.
In addition, we'll also expect you to:
- lead on digital infrastructure strategy and roadmap discussions, and own the deliverables, innovation and cross-collaboration of your team
- engage with a wide range of senior stakeholders, and act as digital infrastructure's go-to liaison for any problems or incidents that arise
- seek ways to exploit technology to address complex business, organisational and technical issues
- own our relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the services and products they provide are aligned to best practice and contractual requirements
- ensure effective financial controls and planning processes are in place, working with your colleagues in Finance to develop budgets that achieve the best value for money
- ensure effective and timely contract management
- champion Parliament Digital Service's culture, values and behaviours
What You Need
- first-hand experience of working with third-party solutions or managed service providers to deliver cost effective, sustainable and cyber secure solutions
- the ability to proactively manage contracts, resources and budgets
- experience of managing digital infrastructure lifecycles and the ability to respond to cyber security threats
- the skills to build, maintain and lead a high performing, supportive and engaged team while upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion
- strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business requirements and stakeholder needs into work plans and practical solutions
- the ability to forge excellent relationships with other digital leaders to deliver strategic outcomes
- the ability to think creatively, ask the right questions, evaluate and communicate your findings and influence your colleagues and customers
- the skills to investigative issues, problems and opportunities and suggest ways to improve
- the ability to make decisions while considering the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of information
- the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK
About The Team
The Digital Infrastructure team is innovative and ambitious, and made up of highly professional specialists. You'll lead the whole team and have direct line management responsibilities for a group of 5-6 colleagues.
Working alongside a wide variety of stakeholders, this is an diverse team with a broad outlook and can-do attitude to everything it does.
