- An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the East Midlands Groundwater, Hydrology and Contaminated Land team
Building and maintaining productive and influential relationships with internal and external customers and partners will be at the heart of your role.
Your focus will be:
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of highly skilled hydrogeologists and hydrologists
- Working with other teams to protect and improve groundwater quality
- Providing direction to the team on priorities to ensure the environmental risks are managed
- Working with and influencing customers and partners to improve the water environment.
- Ensuring the team is prepared to respond to incidents
- Managing the team's budget effectively
- Playing an active role in our leadership team in the Water, Land and Biodiversity Department.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The post will be based in Nottingham with occasional scheduled travel across the whole of East Midlands. As a result, the post requires a full UK driving licence.- The team
- The Technical (Groundwater & Contaminated Land) Team provides scientific and technical support, in the groundwater, contaminated land and geotechnical engineering fields, to various teams in the Area. In doing so the team plays a key role in ensuring that local decisions are based on sound technical judgement.
- Experience/skills required
- The applicant will have a minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including English, be IT literate and have experience of leading and developing people.
The role will provide an opportunity to the applicant to develop their leadership skills and will involve close liaison with internal colleagues and team leaders across the water, land and biodiversity department
