    Job summary

    We are looking for a fully qualified, energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic nephrology consultant colleague to join the department and help in delivering high quality clinical care to our patients. The post provides a good balance of outpatient and inpatient nephrology including hospital and home-based dialysis as a member of a team of 18 nephrologists.

    Main duties of the job

    1. Inpatient Nephrology Ward Cover - including other District Hospitals:

    2. Out-of-Hours and Weekend Nephrology On-Calls:

    3. Specialist areas of skill and interest (one or more):

    a. Satellite/Main Haemodialysis Cohort and/or Home Haemodialysis Cohort Cover:

    b. Advanced chronic kidney disease care:

    c. Genetic renal disease with MDT:

    4. Clinical & Educational Supervision of Foundation, Core and Specialist Renal Trainees:

    5. Undergraduate & Postgraduate Teaching:

    6. Participating in and leading where appropriate relevant MDT meetings, Mortality Meetings, Emergency Bleep Review Meetings and Clinical Governance Groups.

    7. Addressing patient safety concerns and complaints as appropriate.

    8. Fulfilling other managerial and leadership requirements of appointed consultants at the Trust.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications, Clinical Skills & Training

    Essential

  • or equivalent qualifications
  • CCT In Renal Medicine (within 6 months of application)
  • Full GMC Specialist Registration with License to Practice
  • Postgraduate qualifications (MRCP or equivalent)
  • Experience of kidney and pancreas transplantation in an acute transplanting unit
  • Experience in interventional procedures including competence to perform kidney transplant biopsy
  • Desirable

  • Higher Qualification (MD, MSc or PhD)
  • Post CCT fellowship in transplantation
  • Audit and Research

    Essential

  • Experience of Audit/Quality Improvement
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
  • Desirable

  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate research
