We collaborate with our clients to craft campaigns across multiple platforms and disciplines, adopting an innovative and agile approach to creative and post-production processes.


What does a Senior Maya Generalist do?


We are looking for an 'all-rounder' to join our VFX team with a good working knowledge across a small-scale, Maya animation pipeline.

Ideally, they will have some experience with character/creature animation using advance skeleton rigs, lighting, texturing and rendering.

They will be responsible for managing a character/creature-based project and supplying scenes & assets to the character animators, and integrating their output back into a master scene for lookdev & rendering.

There will also be some general 3D production for TVCs across a broad range of clients and some mentoring of the junior artists.


Responsibilities

  • Interpreting Agency briefs for an ongoing, fast turnaround, character series, whilst enhancing the workflow and tools to optimize this production pipeline
  • To be able to Manage projects, all of the assets and be able to allocate tasks to modelers and character animators and bring all of this together for final lookdev & rendering
  • The Senior Maya generalist will have a keen eye for character/creature movement and to be able to constructively feedback to the animators to rectify any issues or enhance their output, before submitting to the client for approval
  • Work alongside our friendly CGI and Motion team, across various clients and productions

The role reports to the head of CGI and Motion at Gramercy Park Studios.

  • Poly Modelling
  • Layout
  • Character rigging using Advanced Skeleton
  • Some experience of character animation
  • General Animation
  • Particles/Fluids
  • Texturing
  • Lighting & multipass rendering with Redshift/Arnold

Desired Skills:


  • Mocap/Lipsync onto characters (MocapX)
  • Bifrost/Fluids
  • Basic compositing
  • Knowledge of USD Pipeline would be an advantage.

Desired Software Knowledge:


  • Houdini
  • 3dsMax
  • Vray
  • Nuke
  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • Shotgrid/Flow

Requirements:


  • You will need a great eye for detail and have a good understanding of character animation/rigging tools and workflows within Maya and Redshift
  • Have an understanding of compositing and delivering multipass renders to Nuke and Flame
  • Experience of Fluids would also be a very welcome bonus
  • Happy to mentor and share their industry experience and skills, with our junior artists
  • Experience working with clients
