Description
A vacancy has arisen for a Shift Leader at Pilkington Bradford, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.


The purpose of the role is to assist the Operations Manager in the day-to-day coordination and management of business operational activities.

The jobholder will provide leadership, guidance, and effective communication to ensure that production teams meet all key activities and ad hoc requests in a timely and accurate manner, whilst maintaining the high standards of Health & Safety adherence and product quality standards required by our customers.

S/he will proactively work with all operational departments to ensure their needs are understood and acted on and will look for opportunities to continuously improve our standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote best practice Health & Safety standards on site and to ensure that all procedures and reporting principles are followed.
  • Establish housekeeping to a high standard and ensure this is always maintained (5S)
  • Proactively work with all areas of the business to ensure business targets and customer requirements are met.
  • Work with the site management team set up initiatives to improve business targets and monitor these for effectiveness.
  • Work with all operational departments to ensure all administration tasks are completed as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Provide team direction and focus.
  • Ensure production schedules are followed and any issues are communicated.
  • Organise available manpower to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant Operator maintenance checks are performed and issues reported.
  • Ensure consumables are always available and ensure these are ordered in a timely manner to minimise disruption.
  • Authorise holiday requests whilst ensuring production needs are still able to be covered.
  • Organise/initiate training deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the business.
  • Carry out disciplinary matters relating to operational areas and ensure other members of the management team are aware of these.
  • Cascade internal communication to Operators in a timely and concise manner, confirming understanding and ensuring that adequate opportunity for questions is given.
  • Contribute to operations meetings, communicating any issues which could affect the delivery of business targets.
  • Periodically review direct reports against agreed objectives with formal appraisal carried out at least annually.
  • Actively participate in new staff induction process.

The Person


The role has the potential to influence the successful supply to customers of Pilkington Bradford, and impact on cost effective operations within the Architectural UK & Ireland business.

Therefore, applicants should be highly organised with excellent communication skills in order to build and maintain vital relationships.

£30,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
