This post is advertising for 2 speech and language therapists; flexibility for full and part time working.

Applications are welcomed from current band 6 therapists but also band 5 speech and language therapists who are looking for a band 5 to band 6 development role.

The successful applicant will be driven by a desire to provide a high standard of patient care and show a passion for continuous development alongside best evidence based care.


You will work as part of a developing team who provide cross site cover in the comprehensive stroke unit based at The Royal Preston Hospital and the Early Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.


This post will provide an opportunity to work within an established but growing MDT who are dedicated to providing best patient care and continuous innovation.

You will have an opportunity to develop and further specialise your skills within enhanced care with the planned opening of the HASU unit and our growing Thrombectomy service along with your specialist skills in stroke rehabilitation

To support the delivery of the Speech and Language Therapy service to Stroke

To use specialist clinical skills to assess, diagnose and manage dysphagia and disorders of communication respectively.

To work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

To represent Speech and Language Therapy in best interest meeting and goal setting meetings for patients

To proactively manage risk and ensure safe care is provided at all times

To demonstrate skills in motivating patients to engage in therapeutic process

To use excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and a flexible approach to work practice

To maintain clinical professional development and be up to date with research and advancements in Stroke.
