Role Purpose
The Logistics Operative Team Leader will report directly into the Supply Chain Manager.

They will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of the logistics operation including people, performance, and productivity to ensure company's targets and objectives are met.


The Logistics Operative Team Leader will also ensure that the team comply with all health, safety regulations, as well as standard operating procedures.


Main Responsibilities

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and being confident to support if needed the Unloading/Loading of materials/products using Forklift truck (reach/counterbalance) and telehandler.
  • Supervise and being confident to support if needed the Unloading/Loading of tankers with either powder or liquid products including ADR products
  • Ensure all paperwork and documentation is accurately recorded and completed.
  • Work closely with the production department on all matters relating to process control and product quality assurance.
  • Manage the team to be their best, delegating effectively, motivating others whilst ensuring client and internal KPIs & SLA deadlines are achieved.
  • Responsible for housekeeping standards and continuous improvement within the warehouses and the loading areas.
  • Manage the movement of materials/goods around site and offsite storage areas
  • Support direct reports if additional assistance is required when decanting and batching products.
  • Monitor and maintain stock accurately by ensuring the physical stock is in line with the warehouse management system.
  • Complete and maintain all daily and weekly reports and logs for the warehouse.
  • Ensure that direct reports comply with company policies and maintain high level of service.
  • Ensure that all workflow procedures and processes are followed by direct reports.
  • Coach, train and guide direct reports to deliver high levels of quality service to customers by ensuring all team members are aware of their responsibilities, monitoring staff performance and providing relevant support.
  • To ensure that the warehouse area is kept a clean and safe environment, mitigating any health and safety risks.
  • Responsible for overall productivity within the designated team
  • Actively support operational change whilst effectively minimising disruption to production and service.
  • Achieve results by setting high standards and committing to clear objectives.
  • Ensure orders are processed efficiently and that the delivery of product meets customers timescales/requirements.
  • Identify errors and eliminate root cause using robust countermeasures whilst adopting the corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  • Flexibility on working hours as needed.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably requested.

Skills and Knowledge

  • A current FLT qualification.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sufficient proven experience as a supervisor or team leader in an operational service delivery role; preferably a supply chain background.
  • Possess the ability to lead and motivate a team of people to succeed.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and work without continuous supervision.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to focus and guide others in accomplishing work objectives, using a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team, facilitating the completion of team goals while valuing each employee as an individual.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills and able to establish logical practical solutions.
  • Experience of working in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to input data into Microsoft Office products.
