Accountabilities:

  • Care Planning
  • Ensuring night sections of resident's plans of care is up to date, current and detailed.
  • Supervisions on care team 6 times per year.
  • Leading staff meetings every three months, making an agenda, leading the meeting and producing minutes of the meetings.
  • Audits of medication that is given over night including CD meds at the end of every shift.
  • Produce the night rota every fortnight along with the unit allocation sheet.
  • Induct new care and Senior staff and complete Induction booklets.
  • Complete 6, 12 and 24 week assessments on staff that are still in their probationary period.
  • Return to work meetings on staff after any absence.
  • Reporting of any maintenance or housekeeping issues that you identify over night.
  • Ensure by checking that all routine procedures are being followed by staff to a high standard including the moving and handling of residents, documentation, call bell waiting times and general kindness and care of the staff.
  • Be the link person between the day and night team taking ideas, concerns and recommendations forward to your team and informing Deputy Managers of anything from your team.
  • Liaise with other managers in regards to ideas and implementing new procedures or improvements on night shifts.
  • Attending Management meetings once a month

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Knowledge of Community Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
  • Prior experience in the care of the elderly and/or mentally ill
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • QCF/NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS Check and where applicable a check against the DBS First List
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and to supervise and direct other staff
  • Honesty, consideration, empathy and patience
