JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title:
Kitchen Porter

Overview:
- assist in providing a clean and well-ordered working environment for the catering team and to assist in some basic food preparation.

Salary:
£10.90 per hour

Working hours:
Average of 35 hours per week on a 11-month contract (excluding August)

Relationships:_

- reports to Head Chef
- works closely with other members of the kitchen team

Main responsibilities:_

- to wash dishes, etc. using commercial dishwasher
- to wash cooking pans etc. by hand
- to wash, dry and put away kitchen equipment
- to wash kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls
- to ensure the kitchen area is kept tidy
- to help organise the storeroom
- to assist with basic food preparation
- to assist with serving and clearing meals
- to upload deliveries from suppliers
- to assist with other duties as required

Essential qualities:_
Physical fitness
Friendly personality
Attention to detail and to see a job through
Good awareness of hygiene standards
A 'can do' and proactive attitude, prepared to help out the rest of the team in a willing and positive manner
Full sympathy with College's Christian values (see website)
Ability and willingness to work additional shifts in the evenings and at weekends
Desirable qualities:_
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience in the catering industry
