Hours: 15 hours over 3 days flexible, or 3 hours a day over 5 days (Monday to Friday) in line with a rota pattern.

We have a Cleaner opportunity within our Estates and Services team based in Birmingham. In this role, you will work as part of a mobile or static cleaning team to deliver a good standard of cleanliness, security and safety to the communal parts of the organisation's housing stock including in our high
- and low-rise blocks. The role also involves the completion of block inspections, report repairs when found and carrying out some compliance checks.


In housing you can make a real difference, the role of a Cleaner (communal) will involve:

  • Litter and small-scale graffiti removal
  • Completion of paperwork relating to daily work
  • Basic Health and Safety knowledge in a cleaning environment including the use of equipment
  • Being able to work to and meet varying deadlines
  • Being able to work in unpleasant conditions
  • Understanding and responding to verbal and written instructions.
  • The completion of fire, emergency light and bin suppression compliance checks where applicable
  • The reporting of bulk items and repairs

As a Cleaner (communal) we need you to have:

  • Previous cleaning experience including mopping, sweeping, buffing, polishing, dusting, vacuuming and cleaning of glass, toilet and sanitary areas in line with a cleaning specification.
  • Basic knowledge on how to use a mobile phone and how to access apps and data. Mobile phone provided by Citizen
  • Experience of working effectively with a team of cleaners or working alone
  • An awareness of Citizens values and the ability to give examples of how these have been demonstrated
  • Experience in being able to clean to a required standard set by management

We would be excited if you have:

  • Experience or knowledge of BICS
  • Previous experience of working in communal areas located in high
- and low-rise blocks

  • Previous experience working in a customer focused environment
