AHK has an exciting opportunity for a Backup and Availability Administrator to join our IT team based in Prescot, Liverpool.

Reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure, the Backup and Availability will ensure enterprise scalability and performancefor backup environments through proactive capacity planning, performance control and configuration adjustment.

You will manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot systems, and support servers, storage & backup systems.

The Backup and Availability Administratorwill also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

The Backup and Availability Administratorwill also perform and analyse disaster simulations for the prompt restoration of services and conduct security audits where required.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience with backup packages such as Veeam or equivalent.
  • Good level of hardware knowledge around servers, SAN and NAS systems.
  • Experience with data management and applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
Required Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or IT certification.
Desired Knowledge

  • Experience with various HyperVisors including VMWare and Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of networking within HyperV and VMWare
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a highpressure environment.
  • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in userfriendly language.
  • Highly self motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Skilled at working within a teamoriented, collaborative environment.
