JOB PURPOSE

  • The Commercial Executive will assist the Commercial Manager in supporting new business growth and improving profitability of existing business from AF Winterbourne.

Job Dimensions & Scope

  • Turnover for the Plant: €70M
  • Number of direct reports: 0
  • Scope: Amcor Flexibles Winterbourne Plant, UK
  • As a key member of the team, the successful applicant will assist the Commercial Manager in supporting new business growth and improving profitability of existing business from AF Winterbourne.
    MAIN ROLE
  • Ensure I conduct myself safely at all times and comply with all Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Site Rules.
  • Responsible for commercial support for specific Sales teams (e.g. the South Europe team) by providing product enquiries, pricing, samples, and general enquiries for both new and existing business
  • Provide pricing quotations for existing and potential business
  • Responsible for managing the AF Winterbourne house account customers as a Sales contact for all commercial enquiries
  • Understand and report in detail on the site commercial position in terms of sales and profitability
  • Managing product set up (PDM) process at AF Winterbourne in terms of managing the process to ensure PDM's are turned around in a timely manner, providing updates on open requests and making improvements to the system
  • Manage the AF Winterbourne sample stock processes including rollstock and A4 samples to be able provide a fast turnaround of sample requests
  • Responsible for managing and updating the price estimating tool on site
  • Analysing customer trends on a regular basis to flag possible sources of erosion/sales loss from existing customer base and identify where can target previous business

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in pricing calculation and decision making
  • Participate in updating quarterly all customer prices
  • Support the tracking of new business opportunities by working closely with the sales team
  • Identify and validate profit improvement (Value Plus) opportunities and deliver benefits
  • Ensure a full understanding of customer profitability of AF Winterbourne customers
  • Minimise RFQ and Trial turnaround time
  • Provide information for monthly reporting on new business, price changes, profit improvement actions and quotations.
  • Manage house account customers with any enquiries as the key commercial contact
  • Manage the PDM process to ensure new products are set up in a timely manner

OCCASIONAL TASKS

  • Contacting customers to try and win new or returning business
  • Visiting customers
  • Lead generation e.g. looking at previous lost business to target again
  • Contacting customers to try and win back lost business
  • Creating marketing materials such as presentations for customers
  • Managing adhoc projects to support the commercial function

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good levels of service to internal and external customers
  • Able to build relationships at all levels in the business
  • Attention to detail
  • Commercial understanding/focus
  • This role would ideally suit a commercial or business focused individual wishing to begin or further a career in the area, such as a graduate in a business discipline
