We are currently partnering with a leading medical research University to recruit for a Deputy Payroll & Pensions Manager on a permanent contract.
This is a full time position, and our client is offering up to £37,599 pa + great benefits (see below)Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Reporting in to the Head of Payroll and Pensions, and supervise one member of staff including training and development through 1-2-1s
- Utilise the HR/Payroll system iTrent as well as the company pension schemes: USS, SAUL, NHS and NEST
- Processing the monthly payroll of c. 2500 employees to include starter, leaver, amendments, absence, overtime, statutory payments and pensions and tax year end processes
- Providing a proactive payroll advisory service, working closely with the finance, business and HR teams and the expert in staff terms and condition
- Dealing with discrepancies and queries related to payroll and resolve or escalate as appropriate
- Management of monthly and ad hoc payroll related payments including manual calculations when needed
- Supporting the monthly financial accounting requirements of the business, including report generation, producing monthly payroll journals, and reconciliations
- Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earning, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Complete all company and yearend payroll processes including liaising with the auditors and payroll related queries
- Reviewing processes to identify weaknesses as well as driving and adopting changes that improve processes
Experience and knowledge required:
- Experience working within the public sector
- Knowledge of payroll systems and a variety of pension schemes in the public sector
