    Job summary

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced GP to join our team either full time or part time as a Salaried GP.

    You would be required to work 4 - 8 sessions per week at our busy, friendly, welcoming GP Practice.

    The position comes with a generous salary with additional reimbursement of indemnity costs & other benefits.

    Newgate Medical Group is a single Practice PCN with over 30,000 patients. We are involved in new projects to change the delivery of Primary Care. We are a training practice, welcoming student GP placements. We have an extremely cohesive, welcoming, well-established and diverse team, including ARRS team members to expand the care we provide to our patients to include: -

  • 9 GP Partners.
  • 3 Practice Paramedics & 2 ANPs undertaking home visits, on site patient appointments & care home reviews.
  • 1 Physician Associate
  • 4 Pharmacists assisting with medication reviews plus 2 Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Experienced Management Team.
  • Experienced & well-developed nurse, HCA & Admin team.
  • Social Prescribing link worker.
  • Established PCN.
  • Excellent integration with community nurses & the voluntary sector.
  • Named Secretary & Mentor for each GP.

  • Main duties of the job

    NMG provide the community of Worksop with treatment & advice for a range of minor illnesses, injuries & long-term condition management. We provide the usual range of primary care services including immunisations, with our own Covid-19 Vaccination clinic, contraception clinics, phlebotomy, & minor surgery clinics.

    You will be responsible for the provision of medical services to the Practice, delivering an excellent standard of care. You will manage a caseload & deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

    Main tasks - clinical responsibilities, contribution to the evaluation/audit & clinical standard setting within the Practice. Commitment to life-long learning & audit to ensure evidence-based best practice. Excellent IT skills to ensure comprehensive accurate records of patient data, whilst good communication skills will enable you to work well with your colleagues & external partners across Bassetlaw. Your knowledge & expertise will help support & develop other clinicians within the Practice, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

    Job responsibilities

    MainPurpose of Job: To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsiblefor the provision of medical services to the Practice, delivering an excellentstandard of care. The post holder willadhere to the GMC standards of good practice, contributing to the effectivemanagement of the service, leading by example, maintaining a positive,collaborative working relationship with the NMG team. You will manage a caseload and deal with awide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the higheststandards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

    Maintasks of job:

    Clinicalresponsibilities:

    In accordance with the Practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a varietyof duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations andqueries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptionsand dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion. Providing highly effective medical care topatients.

    To provide on-call services and cover extendedhours as required within the Practice timetable.

    Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from otherhealth care workers within the Practice. Working as a team member with all relevantproviders of primary and community care services.

    Assessing the health care needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

    Screening patients for disease risk factors andearly signs of illness.

    Developing care plans for health in consultationwith patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.

    Effective management of long-term conditions.

    Providing counselling and health education.

    Recording clear and contemporaneous consultationnotes to agreed standards. Providing accurate clinical records in conjunctionwith good practice, policy, and guidance.

    Collecting data for audit purposes.

    Compiling and issuing computer-generated acuteand repeat prescriptions adhering to local and national guidelines.

    Prescribing in accordance with the Practiceprescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

    In general, the post-holder will be expected toundertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GPworking within primary care.

    Otherresponsibilities within the Practice:

    Awareness of and compliance with all relevantPractice policies/guidelines, , prescribing, confidentiality, dataprotection, health, and safety.

    A commitment to life-long learning and audit toensure evidence-based best practice.

    Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinicalstandard setting within the organisation.

    Contributing to the development ofcomputer-based patient records.

    Contributing to the summarising of patientrecords and read-coding patient data.

    Attending training and events organised by thePractice or other agencies, where appropriate.

    Develop and maintain clinical skills andabilities through CPD and participate in yearly appraisal to identify furthereducation, training, and development needs.

    Encourage collaborative working, liaising withall staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

    Attendance at internal clinical meetings andexternal meetings (as Practice representative) as required by the managementteam.

    Supervise and participate in the training of thenursing staff and other members of the clinical team within the Practice.

    Participate in the review of significant andnear-miss events applying a structured approach , root cause analysis(RCA).

    Participate in Practice audits as requested bythe audit lead.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Qualified GP.
  • MRCGP.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register.
  • On the PCSE Medical Performers List.
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently - although we can provide and support sponsorship for the right candidate.
  • Evidence of continued personal and professional development to include statutory and mandatory training records.
  • Appropriate Level 3 Safeguarding training for adults and children.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience working as a General Practitioner
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit, working to standards/guidelines applicable to Primary Care.
  • Willingness to provide mentoring and support to all other clinicians where appropriate.
  • Case management experience
  • Time management skills - ideally a proven ability to handle a primary care case load.
  • Experience using System one and AccuRx - IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems and Microsoft programmes.
  • Desirable

  • 2 years' experience working as a GP in the UK.
