Were looking for a proactive and inspiring Head of Metering to lead our Metering Solutions team, predominantly within the London Area.

Working together with our national team of 144 innovative professionals we are Optimising the worlds transition to net zero and beyond.


About the role


As Head of Metering within Optimised, you will be part of the Engineering Management team, responsible for surveying, scoping and supporting the sales process as well as the successful implementation of metering projects in accordance with our health and safety policies.

This position will be reporting to the Engineering Director.

What youll actually do

  • Effectively coach and manage the Metering team; in all aspects of metering surveys and installations from project specification to installation, networking, commissioning, and handover.
  • Function as the technical lead for metering solutions and field internal/external metering queries.
  • Oversee the creation/maintenance/adherence to a set of standard operating procedures for metering.
  • Educate Sales and Delivery teams on the Optimised metering offering.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between your team and other areas of the business business (such as the ROC, Recharging and BeMS teams).
  • Support presales activity to help the sales team achieve metering sales targets.
  • Develop metering strategies to support best practice energy management and/or tenant recharging.
  • Undertake metering condition surveys to assess suitability/compliance with relevant standards/legislation and to identify gaps in best practice.
  • Develop meter schedules, line diagrams and from timetotime schematics to display site metering systems and electrical distribution networks for buildings and assets.
  • Develop business cases to support the most economic and viable metering solutions.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of metering projects.
  • Responsible for onsite health & safety for all metering projects Development of standards,
  • Review and develop your team members to ensure that they are operating to the high standards of electrical safety when completing their tasks.
  • Ensure the company is at the forefront of metering and metering communications technology.
  • Ensure metering data is captured and integrated with relevant energy management systems in a timely manner to a highlevel of accuracy.
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems, risks and solutions.
  • Communicate with all relevant stakeholders from directors to clients and delivery team members.
  • Manage metering supplier relationships to ensure optimal purchasing (rates, lead times, support etc)
  • Remain up to date with current legislation and standards as part of electrical installation works.
  • Lead, develop and manage the people within your team, including probation reviews, 1:1s, performance review alongside onboarding, training and development.

What youll need

  • Electrical qualifications to current regulation standard:
  • Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382)
  • Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391)
  • Electrical Power Engineering (2304)
  • Electrical Power Engineering (SCQF
  • Gold card holder
  • SMSTS Health & Safety qualification, as a minimum.
  • Technical understanding of building services infrastructure.
  • Understanding of heat networks and metering legislation and standards.
  • Understanding of tenant recharging methodologies in commercial buildings.
  • Understanding of energy performance and the impact of project deliverables.
  • UK drivers licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
