Description
This novel project will bring together psychologists and emergency practitioners, combining theory and practice. It will involve a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods, involving a systematic review of the literature to inform training format design, followed by empirical testing of novel team training to assess its impact on team processes and outputs in the short
- and long-term.


The post will include day-to-day running of the project; collaboration with research partners; working with stakeholders and research participants; managing research ethics; conducting qualitative and quantitative research; and supporting academic and practitioner dissemination of research findings.

You will have a PhD in psychology (or related discipline) and experience working in applied research settings.

You will be able to work as part of a team and liaise directly with the research partners to recruit participants and collect data.

You should have expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods. An understanding of organisational training methods and experience of disseminating research findings to practitioners would also be advantageous.


Responsibilities & Duties:


  • To support a range of studies testing key questions related to designing and testing psychologically informed teamwork training to improve emergency team interoperability.
  • To assist in the day-to-day running of the Project
- including cooperation and collaboration with the research team, research partners, and stakeholders.


  • To assist in participant recruitment for the Project, maintaining confidential participant records in accordance with University and Funder guidelines. You will manage confidential information provided by participants, deal with ethical and administrative issues relating to the Project.
  • To undertake data collection, working to established Department protocols, including safeguarding policies; and contribute to data analysis.
  • To support the dissemination of the research, including contribution to research publications and conference presentations.
  • To contribute to project reports and presentations to stakeholders where appropriate
  • To contribute to the Project and Department¿s Impact Agenda, by assisting in arranging events for academic and non-academic partners such as practitioner reports and non-academic presentations.
  • To identify and engage in personal development opportunities to support your career development, including developing your personal research agenda.
  • You may also be required to carry out any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post, as directed by your line manager or their nominee.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.

Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 50% on campus

The post is available for 13 months (1 September September 2025), with a possible extension of 5 months.
