DATE PUBLISHED: 25/07/2023We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Principal Designer, to develop our Principal Designer
- department, based in our Birmingham Office.

  • We have a steady flow of work and are now looking to grow this element of our practice after successfully
- being awarded positions on a number of high profile frameworks.

Private Clients.

You must be self-motivated and driven to continue to develop new and existing relationships with clients.
You must have the ability to manage multiple projects, have a detailed understanding of key hazards
typical to construction projects and be able to work as an individual or as part of a wider team. You must be
able to work with both internal and external project stakeholders to ensure Health and Safety issues are
properly addressed and managed during the project lifecycle.

The role requires an in depth understanding of design and construction processes and the ability to
communicate effectively. You will have a clear understanding of the legal requirements of the CDM
Regulations. The role includes preparing CDM documentation, writing reports, attending meetings,
responding to technical queries, reviewing designs, risk management, producing files/manuals, office
administration etc.


In particular the role will require you to:

  • Make Clients aware of their duties
  • Assess the competence of any consultants appointed for a construction project
  • Collate Pre-Construction Information and identify how any information gaps will be resolved in a timely
manner to ensure sufficient consideration of health and safety issues

  • Carry out H&S specific design reviews throughout the design and construction phases of a project
  • Promote and manage clear communication between project duty holders with respect to coordination of
outputs and management of health and safety issues at all project stages

  • Prepare and issue the project specific Health and Safety File on completion
qualified with an additional Health and Safety (eg NEBOSH Construction Certificate, Registered

Membership of APS or ICE H&S Register) qualification

  • You will have experience in either design or construction management including experience of leading
design teams

  • You must be able to represent the company with confidence and show a commitment to providing the
level of care and attention needed to meet the high standards required

  • Be skilled in developing strong working relationships both internally and externally, and have confidence in
communicating and delivering advice Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word,

  • Outlook and PowerPoint is required

Job Description:


Essentials:


  • NEBOSH General or Construction certificate minimum
  • Minimum 1 year of experience delivering the Principal Designer/CDM Advisor role
  • Consultancy Experience
  • Construction qualification / construction professional
  • Degree qualified or equivalent with a Construction or Occupational Health related degree, have
experience of the delivery of similar Health and Safety and CDM services and possess relevant professional
qualifications.
