The post holder will be responsible for implementing and maintaining high standards of patient care as planned and directed by health care professionals at HMP & YOI New Hall prison.
All care activity will be carried out in accordance with the organisation and the prison service's declared values and principles.
he HCA will work closely with other disciplines within the prison setting and external agencies in accordance with policies and procedures formally adopted by both the prison and the organisation, including Prison Health Care Standards, Prison Service rules, Prison Standing Orders and Female estate protocols for clinical management of substance misuse.
To deliver direct patient care, in accordance with the patients care plan, as delegated by the registered nurse, to meet the patients identified health or health related needs To contribute in assessing and evaluating the needs of patients and to work in partnership with them in providing therapeutic and/or treatment packages as delegated.
To engage in joint work with members of the team and other disciplines within the prison setting in meeting the holistic needs of patients.
To support other professionals who are involved with this client group seeking advice as required. Monitoring the treatment process within the care plan including testing as appropriateTo act professionally at all times and to treat all patients with dignity and respect.
To undertake patient risk assessments and take appropriate professional action when the nature of behaviour, symptoms or illness are likely to lead to self-harm or injury to others.
To participate in the appropriate supervision and observation of prisoners ,this includes patients identified at risk of 'self harm.
To contribute to the promotion of positive health to individual prisoners and groups, in order to help them recognise their own health needs and decide on action appropriate to their lifestyle.
