- Develop tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual models
- Determine engineering requirements, metrics and targets.
- Correlate existing analysis processes against physical data. Identify process short comings and opportunities to improve
- Support department prevent reoccurrence process identify CAE failures and undertaking annual projects to resolve
- Support methods reviews as appropriate contributing ideas including Lead / support outsourced methods projects as required
- Excellent understanding of solid mechanics and the dynamic behaviour of structures applied to vehicle powertrain (Batteries or EDU's).
- Working knowledge and experience of complex durability CAE methodologies including fatigue calculation theory, thermo-mechanical physics, distortion and stress analysis
- Competent in the use of the following software and associated pre and post processing packages DS Abaqus for linear static / dynamic / forced frequency and non-linear solvers. Ability to generate shell /solid meshes and apply boundary conditions using JLR (Hypermesh, Simlab, Abaqus CAE)

WHAT TO EXPECT
We are looking for a FEA Lead Engineer to join the Powertrain CAD & CAE Methods Chapter. Working alongside simulation engineers you will develop new virtual techniques for simulating battery, electric drive unit and internal combustion engine durability. CAE is an integral part of the Powertrain development process and requires robust and repeatable processes to support the digital development phase. The application of such tools is used to assess and optimise design solutions as well as validating the design prior to the hardware release. You will understand state of the are computer aided engineering (CAE) processes & tools through benchmarking. You will gain valuable experience working with all internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary.
