What is the Role?

We are thrilled to offer you the chance to be part of our Multi Skilled Craft apprenticeship fitting program within the Distribution business in South Uist and Isle of Islay. These are hands-on field-based roles that involve working outdoors in all types of weather conditions around the clock. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance of electricity supplies.

The Multi-skilled Craft Apprenticeship is a dynamic and diverse role that may entail inspecting and servicing low voltage/high voltage electricity equipment at your power station or conducting repairs on the equipment that powers an entire town. Throughout the program, you will acquire invaluable mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills, utilizing your manual dexterity to effectively maintain, install, and repair equipment.

The apprenticeship will span 3 years and consist of two phases. The initial phase involves approximately 18 months of academic study. During this period, you will reside at Fife College to learn about Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, including an award in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO).

The subsequent phase will involve hands-on learning with training tailored to the job, integrating the theoretical knowledge acquired at college into your daily work routine. By the program's conclusion, you will have garnered practical experience, acquired new skills, and obtained an industry-recognized qualification. This will open doors for you to build a fulfilling and prosperous career in the energy sector, contributing to the achievement of NETZERO.

As an apprentice, you will attend Fife College during the initial 18 months, necessitating extended periods away from home. Although there will be opportunities for occasional visits home, travel during term breaks may be limited due to distance. Rest assured, we provide full support during this time, covering travel and accommodation.
