Customs Clearance Operator - Poole - Salary up to £28,000 DOE

Our client based in Poole area is looking for a Customs Clearance Operator.

You will be required to complete customs entries for shipments arriving and leaving through UK ports for both external and internal customers and ensuring the information is correctly logged on the systems.

This will include all aspects of Import and Export customs procedures and regulations.


Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and presented within the expected time frames as designated by regulations.
  • Report any potential issues with your supervisor immediately.
  • Provide excellent customer service and keep customers updated on progress of shipment, entry completion and confirmation of VAT and duty costs as received from customs.
  • Advise customers of any imposed customs holds which could affect delivery.
  • Raising issues which could potentially cause delay due to documentation errors and advising your manager immediately.
  • All Duty and VAT invoices are to be completed and accepted on cost control along with other internal departmental responsibilities.

Skills:


  • Experience in customs clearance and logistics would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisations skills with the ability to prioritise and manage high workloads whilst meeting tight deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administration and customer service skills are essential.
  • Competent with completion of customs clearance procedures.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm with 1 hour lunch break.
