    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric ENT department at Imperial. The successful applicant will be expected to have excellent experience within general and subspecialty Otolaryngology Surgery. To compliment our existing consultant team we are looking for consultants who have particular experience within Paediatrics. The successful candidate will have Paediatric fellowship experience, be expected to work flexibly and to bring new skills to the department.

    The post holder will join the newly founded West London Children's Healthcare which is transforming care for children across North and West London.

    In 2018, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, Imperial College London and Chelsea & Westminster Trust stated their intent to collaborate on the development of an integrated care system for paediatric services spanning West London.

    West London Children's Healthcare aims to unite paediatric services from across West London with hubs that link closely to support clinical care provision, research, education and training. Over 1500 staff across 4 hospital sites with a bed base of 296 will come together to deliver £100m+ paediatric services providing over 115,000 outpatient attendances and 16,000 elective procedures annually, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of the almost half a million children and young people who live in West London

    Main duties of the job

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    To enhance and complement the skill mix and services provided by the Paediatric ENT service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

    To advance the office-based ENT service

    To advance the Paediatric ENT across sites working in collaboration with West London Children's Healthcare developing new pathways and models of care.

    To provide high quality care to all Paediatric ENT patients

    To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.

    To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.

    To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.

    To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.

    To undertake administrative duties associated with their patients in line with departmental guidelines.

    To support with the training of junior specialist trainees and other junior doctors in the ENT surgery department.

    To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Imperial College as required

    Adhere to Trust/departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and Divisional Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, this is not designed to be exhaustive.

    The post holder and Divisional Director/ Chief of Service will review the job plan annually in line with the provisions in schedule 3 of the terms and conditions. Either may propose amendment of the job plan.

    A provisional job plan is included in the Job Description. This is subject to change.

    Programmed activities (PAs):

    For a whole-time contract: A total of 10 PAs

    Clinical Activities: 9 PAs per week (including clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work)

    Supporting Professional Activities: 1 PAs per week (including audit, clinical governance, CPD, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD)

    Regular meetings:

    Attendance at regular department audit, M&M and business meetings are required.

    Education/ Qualifications

    Essential

  • On GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
  • On GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
  • Appropriate Royal College Membership
  • Knowledge/ Skills

    Essential

  • Subspecialist knowledge and training in laryngology
  • Post-CCT fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology
  • Experience in office-based laryngology procedures
  • IT Skills and computer literacy
  • Leadership/ Management Skills

  • Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
  • Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
