  • Job description
  • We are looking for an experienced PSRA assessor to act as the Senior PSRA assessors Kent South London and East Sussex to assess our Water Resources and Hydrometry and Telemetry Assets.

You'll help manage the Environment Agency's range of Water Resources and Hydrometry and Telemetry Assets such as boreholes, rain gauges, Gauging Stations and River Level sites.

Your work will involve the inspection of these structures and management of our asset database to ensure public safety at Environment Agency owned sites as well as help generate our repair and replacement work required.

Public safety at our sites is paramount. As a senior public safety assessor, you will
Mentor and coach newly appointed assessors

  • Undertake competency assessments on all the assessors in the Area
  • Report and liaise with the PSRA Lead for the area.
  • Contribute to the Area local quality assurance/peer review programme
  • Monitor the KPI reports to ensure public safety inspections are on time and of a good quality
  • Maintain your skills and continued professional development in public safety


  • The team

  • The Water Land and Biodiversity (WLB) Asset Team is responsible for ensuring Water Resources assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated in a safe and effective manner to reduce risk to people, property and ensure they operate to the agreed standards set by the Environment Agency.

The team works closely with internal and external contractors and stakeholders and takes an active role in incident management, ensuring our assets work effectively when required.


  • Experience/skills required
  • You must currently be an accredited PSRA assessor with experience in undertaking PSRA assessments at a wide range of sites.

You will have good organisational skills with experience of data collection and an understanding of asset management and structural engineering is desirable.

You will be comfortable working within a team and on your own.

You should have:

  • Data management experience
  • Comfortable using information technology and associated software
  • Safety, Health & Environment experience
  • Be able to work/communicate with staff and our customers
  • Keenness to learn and develop
  • Full driving licence

  • It is important that you are based within the KSLES area to enable you to work on site with team members and to be able to travel to sites.
