The College wishes to employ a Marketing and Communications Officer, who will work as part of the Marketing Team to support the college's strategic plan and aim to meet or exceed recruitment targets across all markets.

As a Marketing and Communications Officer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the College's brand awareness and promoting our diverse range of courses and services.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to attract prospective students, engage current students, and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who possesses exceptional communication skills and a creative flair for marketing strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in promoting Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion's reputation and raise its profile through multiple bilingual communication channels;
  • Work with Marketing Officer (PR & Media) to identify collegewide press opportunities and work with faculties and other personnel producing and issuing press releases, testimonials, educational campaigns and any other written communication required by the college;
  • Support the college in its internal and external communications which includes writing promotional materials to support recruitment;
  • Proactively seek engagement from internal departments and identify promotional opportunities to support faculties, promoting equality and diversity;
  • Contribute to communication plans that align with the overarching recruitment and marketing plan, proactively seeking feedback to ensure communication content is relevant and effective in reaching target audience;
  • Support the upskilling of colleagues across the college to develop opportunities and maintain content for social media and PR;
  • Seek and generate content and visual imagery for the college website and social networking sites;
  • Write compelling and engaging copy in Welsh and English that can be multi purposed across all social media channels and optimised for web for a broad audience such as young people, parents/guardians and multiple industry sectors with a knowledge of SEO for web content;
  • Work with the Marketing team to ensure written output is accurate and in line with agreed house style, and Welsh Language standards;
  • Work with the team to produce and distribute college newsletters for Partner schools and support similar developing lines of communications as required by the college;
  • Act as a brand ambassador ensuring consistent messaging throughout all college communications;
  • Work as part of the team, supporting the breadth of work of the marketing and front of house teams;
  • Assist in the organisation of a range of promotional activities, including careers conventions, inhouse faculty events, exhibitions, Higher Education Conventions and open evenings;
  • Attend and support college open days/evenings and other promotional events

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria:


  • GCSEs Grades A*C in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Competence in the use of a range of IT Systems and packages including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Relevant experience of Administration
  • Experience in using Social Media platforms
  • Analysing and Reporting Data
  • Writing customer focused content for multiple platforms
  • Building collaborative working relationships
  • Professional and confident approach
  • Excellent communicator with diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail, proactive and able to use initiative

Desirable Criteria:


  • Degree or equivalent industry experience relevant to the post
  • An understanding of Further and Higher Education issues

£23,151.00-£23,886.00 per year
