National Highways is currently recruiting for an Assistant Claims Handler to join our team on a part-time basis, on a 9 month fixed term contract.

The Assistant Claims Handler has responsibility for supporting the progression of all types of claims, working with a range of stakeholders to ensure the correct information is pulled together to support decision making on settling claims in a timely manner.

This role is to be based in Mansfield.


What you'll be leading on

  • Responsible for receiving claims and ensuring that these are set up on the administrative system to provide a strong administrative base for audit trails
  • Responsible for undertaking vehicle checks and completing VQ5 forms to support decision making for claims, ensuring that information is accurate and correct
  • Responsible for holding an overview of the work of the department, allocating cases as they come into the department to ensure that they have sufficient resource
  • Responsible for arranging meetings, ensure that attendees are aware and taking minutes of these in order to distribute to share findings
  • Involvement in straightforward claims, working with relevant stakeholders to gather information and provide recommendations on actions
  • Ensure that information is inputted into relevant databases to provide a clear audit trail, to protect the interests of National Highways.

To be successful

  • Understanding of the work of National Highways
  • Experience of handling cases, including personal injury and insurance claims.
  • Understanding of case management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competent IT skills; particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
