The Bank's Central Procurement Team is part of Shared Services, which has responsibility to The Central Services Targeting Model design created a new Shared Services Directorate in 2019, formed by centralising operational colleagues from Human Resource, Finance, Technology, Property, Procurement and Security to enable a focus on operational service delivery.


The Bank exists to ensure monetary stability and to contribute to financial stability; the Shared Services Directorate provides the infrastructure and services required to support the Bank's critical functions.


Department Overview


The Procurement department is responsible for ensuring value-for-money for the Bank and compliance with the procurement policies and regulations, and managing third-party risk.


Job description


This role is part of the Commercial Policy team, responsible for commercial policies, governance and controls, including training (for both commercial and non-commercial staff), continuous improvement and benchmarking.


You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Commercial Policy team to deliver and maintain the Bank's commercial policies and controls
  • Assisting the team with their design of new (or existing) processes to drive and/or monitor compliance with the commercial policies
  • Supporting the collaboration with Learning & Development to roll out and administer training programmes tailored to the various members of the commercial community
  • Running the secretariat of the Commercial Oversight Group, which oversees all the major Bank commercial decisions
  • Drafting and publishing internal communications and updates on procurement initiatives to manage key stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required

Technical capabilities:


  • Demonstrable data analysis skills, including strong knowledge of Excel, and notably creating userfriendly spreadsheets, ready for user input

Behavioural capabilities:


  • Good written communication skills
  • Strong ability to engage with internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrable excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work on multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Selfmotivation, with the ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team


It would also be advantageous to have an understanding of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and awareness of the upcoming Procurement Reform.

Salary and Benefits Information


This specific role offers a base salary of
circa £32,000 - £36,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis.

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked.
