    Salary:
    £45,585 – £57,698 Tenure: FTC – 2 yearsRole overview and University context: IT Services (ITS) plays a critical role in the technical maintenance of the University's business systems and infrastructure – supporting 54 academic departments, based in 300 buildings, across several (inter)national sites. Sitting within ITS, the Strategy, Partnerships and Projects Team (which includes Project Managers, Business Analysts and Process Analysts) are responsible for providing the expertise required to design, manage, and deliver major IT related programmes and projects. The University is embarking on a major strategic programme, geared toward migrating the institution's core finance system (Unit 4ERP) to SaaS, during 2024/5. The current on-premise system includes extensive customisations to / integration with the baseline product, and will therefore require careful change management and related technical delivery to ensure service levels can be maintained successfully and desired benefits realised. ITS will manage technical delivery of the migration, in close partnership with functional SMEs, Strategic Change, and 3rd party consultancy. IT Services are therefore seeking to recruit an experienced technical project manager, who has ideally worked on similar migration / transformation initiatives, to successfully lead a multi-disciplinary team in a complex and time pressured environment. Experience of managing and delivering this type of project will be key – including knowledge and understanding of financial systems specifically, along with the underlying technologies. In addition to the salary remuneration, a 20% market supplement could be applied for the duration of the fixed term period for the successful candidate.


    Responsibilities:
    Reporting to ITS' Head of PMO & Programmes and working alongside ITS'

    Associate Director:

    Business Systems and Services and Head of Business Applications, the role will be responsible for managing all technical elements of the programme.

    The post-holder will have considerable project management experience – leading and managing across the full life cycle of the piece.

    Working within agreed Project Management standards, and with excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, they will lead/manage an identified project team.

    The holder will support to senior sponsors, programme and project management and team members – acting as prime contact for project planning related issues, maintaining full accountability for the accuracy and timeliness of the project plans.


    Duties:

    Project Management In collaboration with Programme / Project Sponsors and Boards, establish goals and objectives, implementation plans and timescales, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

    Manage all operational aspects of projects, priorities, and scope on a day-to-day basis, providing regular actuals and revised forecasts at least once per month.

    Effectively apply aspects of APM, Prince 2 or PMP or appropriate project management methodologies and enforce project standards. Adhere to and support the development of Project Management Office (PMO) standards, proactively following the wider Project Management framework. Provide Programme Reports to Project Boards, including effective guidance on progress, milestones, and quality assurance. Produce regular and ad hoc reports. Deliver stakeholder analysis – coordinating stakeholder groups and facilitating core project team meetings. Proactively manage project risks and issues – providing mitigation and minimising overall exposure. Lead, deliver, and maintain project scoping and feasibility assessments. Effectively lead and facilitate team and client meetings. Deliver engaging, informative, and well-organised presentations. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Provide leadership to the project team and serve as a role model. Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. Mitigate any team conflict and communication issues. Ensure the project team are well informed of changes and communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. Quality Assurance Implement robust procedures to ensure the quality management of the assigned project.

    Ensure that the project adheres to all relevant University policies and systems, ensuring any audit requirements and institutional standards are met.

    Health & Safety / Risk Management Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements, including Health and Safety Regulations, Codes of Practice, Contracts, University Specifications, established professional standards and Service Level Agreements.

    Work within a defined departmental risk management approach and contribute towards the implementation and review of risk management procedures across the Department.

    Minimise institutional exposure and risk across multiple programmes and projects. Take a proactive approach to Health & Safety and in accordance with the Department defined policy.

    Take accountability for adhering to all relevant University policies and systems, ensuring any audit requirements and institutional standards are met.
