  • Every Thursday 10am5.00pm
  • Alternate Fridays 10am5.00pm
  • Plus 1x Saturday shift per month 10.00am3pm with additional ability to cover for holidays and sickness
  • Plus handover time
Average hours over 4 week rota: 12 hours per week


Pay:

- £13.00 per hour Monday to Friday
- £14.00 per hour for weekends


Place of Work:
Client's own home, community areas and holiday cover.


Employer:

You will be employed by the Client acting through their Deputy Slater &Gordon.

Introduction:

'Cool, calm and collected' people are required, with a commitment to promoting and maintaining an independent lifestyle for a woman with complex care needs. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills while delivering care to a client in her own home.

Our 59 year-old client lives in her own home with her cat and her partner, family members and friends also visit regularly.

Our Client has a brain injury as a result of a road traffic accident and now requires help from support workers to enable her to be as independent as possible within a structured plan both within her home and for community activities

She lives in the Huddersfield area.

She receives support on a daily basis to enable her to completer her household requirements, attend activities in the community and attend a work placement.

Support workers are also required to attend social events on occasional evenings.
She attends a local gym and staff assist her to get ready and showered/changed afterwards. She also enjoys swimming and aqua aerobics but has not been going regularly. She also enjoys short country walks.
She is a grandma and support staff help her visit her grandchildren on a pre-planned basis. This does involve motorway driving.
She also enjoys gardening, housework and healthy baking She has a young cat that enjoys attention and playing

One other team member in place, working on a part time basis.


Undertaking a range of duties to support the Client, you will work closely with other members of the team in providing the highest standards of health care.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, backed by previous health care experience (preferred), however full training will be given to those with the right approach and attitude.

The post requires that you work independently to a very great extent. The post therefore requires that you work and conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to the employer. Reliability, integrity and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this post.


Support workers will be expected to be flexible in their approach to responding to our client's need and be able to work additional shifts to cover for holidays and sickness of other team members.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace.
  • Promote effective communication and relationships.
  • Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
  • To establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationships
  • To liaise with other agencies
  • To complete daily records as advised including; time sheets, care plan summary and critical incidents, petty cash.
  • Attend review meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer
  • To attend training sessions as arranged. These may be on line or face to face
  • To be responsible for the client's personal welfare
  • To supervise activities in line with the support plan guidelines
  • To travel to hospitals, treating therapists, dentist, GP or elsewhere for therapeutic care to support Client.
  • To drive Client in their own car for community activities
  • To assist Client to complete to all household duties including, cooking, cleaning, dusting, washing and ironing clothes.
  • To carry out the physical management programme as advised by physiotherapist.
  • To travel with Client to support them to participate in recreation and leisure activities such as pubs/clubs, sports venues, gyms, swimming, horse riding, concerts and personal development venues
  • To travel for holidays in UK or abroad.

Essential Requirements:

, with ability to use vehicle to take client into the community

  • Be willing not to smoke during your hours of duty.
  • Excellent references and enhanced DBS
  • To partake in training sessions and use new information in your role as Support Worker.
  • Able to demonstrate a positive interest and attitude to working with a child with complex additional needs, enabling choice, independence and confiden
