Role Purpose
Technology Services are responsible for transforming and supporting all of the force's digital technology needs.

The operating structure is split into four core teams:


  • Strategy (responsible for identifying and selecting the right technologies for the force)
  • Transformation (responsible for delivering and implementing changes to the technologies across the force)
  • Service (responsible for supporting and servicing all end users of technology across the force)


The Transformation team are responsible for overseeing and coordinating all major change or transformation activity across the Technology Services team.

This includes project delivery, resource scheduling, test engagement and planning, and portfolio planning.


The IT Project Support Analyst role is vital for supporting the delivery of minor and large IT projects to our stakeholders, ensuring all resource activities are correctly managed, coordinated, governed and successfully delivered.

Regular reporting on projectstatus and progress is an essential expectation of the role, alongside risk management and benefits tracking.


The post holder must hold a good understanding of project management best practices and be familiar with different approaches to project scheduling.

The role is expected to identify and combine the resourcing needs of multiple projects, so that they canbe aligned into a logical and achievable delivery plan.

Project progress against the plan will be overseen by IT Project Managers and IT Project Technicians, but the role of the IT Project Support Analyst is to ensure that any resource implications and supportfrom engineers is planned accordingly and the respective teams across Technology Services are aware of these requirements in advance.

The role will also help drive best practice in terms of project delivery and strong project governance while supporting theTransformation Team.


Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Effective assessment of multiple IT change projects, identifying all resource and support needs against clear delivery plans;
  • Ensure that project resources are specified correctly and that IT Partners are notified of these requirements in advance;
  • Agree to and monitor changing resource demands, owing to fluctuations in project delivery or changes in the availability of specialist staff;
  • Adhere to any governance standards or reporting mechanisms as dictated by the IT Partner (Projects);
  • Develop a resourcefocused plan across all projects, and socialise this regularly with the delivery team to ensure everyone is aligned and engaged;
  • Produce overall project delivery dashboards, showing how projects align and how resources are allocated, both for internal project performance reviews and for stakeholder engagement meetings;
  • Be the recognised point of contact for requesting scheduled resource requirements in respect to project delivery;
  • Highlight any risks to delivery with the relevant IT Project Manager/Technician;
  • Be familiar with project management best practices (Prince2, Agile or similar)
  • Assist with forecasting the demand for technical resources throughout the delivery of the change project, and ensure that IT Partners are aligning their resources to meet this demand;
  • Contribute to new project procedures or policies, and support their successful implementation in order to steer project management best practice approaches across the team;
  • Assist the IT Partner (Projects) in providing high level summaries of project resource plans where necessary;
  • Ensure the team continually promote the Technology Services function through engaging with force stakeholders wherever possible;
  • Encourage a satisfactory safe working environment for all team members;
  • Support the team with the delivery of projects

Experience

  • Experience in scheduling the delivery of complex IT programmes of work
  • Able to influence technical specialists and agree on milestone deliverables
  • Experience in supporting Project Governance
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Project
  • Able to translate detailed technical requirements into high level project delivery dashboards
  • Competent in managing and resolving competing demands
