We encourage our people to be proud of where they work, to share their ideas and to own their careers.

We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.

What you'll be doing

As Planner within Transmission Major Projects, you will be responsible for the update and review of project plans within a portfolio for the £2.1bn future investment plan of SP Transmission Major Projects, reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist planning software and established IT software tools.

Developing and evolving Transmission Major Project plans through the delivery lifecycle by interfacing with relevant business experts, you will obtain the task detail required to provide adequate project scheduling information which will allow project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).

You will be required to resolve scheduling and programming issues in project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other project team members.

Your work will also involve assessing schedule risk within the projects that make up your portfolio and, where necessary, highlighting programme schedule risk to the Project Manager and possible solutions to alleviate or mitigate the risk.

Producing portfolio level monthly reports which are based upon the most up-to-date project plan KPIs to inform and assist the portfolio level management decision making process, you will be required to analyse internal departmental schedules and external contractor project plans as required, ensuring and advising the project team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control and schedule targets.

What you'll bring

Educated to HNC level within an Engineering or Mathematical discipline or with previous experience in scheduling/programming/planning projects and portfolio's of works, you will possess a strong knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word and Access.

With your understanding of project methodology, you will utilise your experience in reporting whilst maintaining a flexible outlook to meet the working hour requirements of the position.

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
