Your new role

If you're looking for a role in HR, National Highways are recruiting for a HR Advisor to join our team in Birmingham.

This is a fast-paced role which is both exciting and challenging where you'll provide advice and guidance to employees and managers in our Policy and Guidance team.

You'll join a large, energetic team who are constantly striving to improve our customer service through providing accurate first-line HR support.

National Highways has thousands of employees across the country, which means we have a whole range of HR queries coming in to the team to respond to and support on.

What you'll be leading on
We're looking for a self-motivated individual that strives for success in meeting deadlines and targets.

Provide first line advice to managers and employees within a fastpaced shared services team
Answering incoming HR calls and making outbound calls to resolve queries and support managers/employees.
Understand and be able to communicate HR policies, processes, and procedures to employees and managers
Support managers on sickness absence cases up to 3 months
Work with the Employee Relations team on complex HR queries
Collate and monitor feedback, exceptions and trends through queries to suggest amendments and process improvements as required
Policy review updates
Working to tight deadlines and within service level agreements
Transactional changes such as processing Flexible Working Applications, Maternity Leave, Leavers and Partial Retirements
Working collaboratively with own team and across other HR functions

To be successful

Experience of working in a customer focused environment
HR experience preferable but not a necessity as we provide great training on the job
Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
Proven ability to demonstrate good organisation and problemsolving skills
Proven ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, work independently and demonstrate good communication skills
Experience of using computer systems including Microsoft systems
Previous experience of responding to HR policy queries in a similar role is desirable
Self motivated with great attention to detail and a right first time attitude
