    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated individual who is looking to expand their knowledge in the role as a Librarian working across both hospital sites at The James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital.

    Main duties of the job

  • Provide professional assistance in the provision of library and information services to staff and placement students within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Undertake mediated/evidence literature searches and enquiry work.
  • Plan, publicise and deliver training programmes for groups and individuals to improve evidence-based decision making and to support continuing professional development and learning needs.
  • To work with staff and placement students to ensure that distance from physical library resources is not a barrier to awareness and use of evidence, including the provision of an outreach service.
  • To contribute to Service Development and Performance Monitoring.
  • To organise, support and promote local, regional and national events and initiatives.
  • To contribute to Knowledge Management through gathering, producing and organising information.

  • Knowledge and experience in using a range of online information resources and healthcare databases Medline, CINAHL, and Cochrane etc.
  • Ability to carry out Evidence/Literature searches and conduct search strategies.
  • Desirable

  • Able to provide support to staff/students wishing to submit professional articles and coursework.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in Library / Information Studies or Postgraduate Diploma in Library/Information Studies or working towards.
