Description
Are you interested in developing your skills and teaching others?

Are you interested in restraint reduction and how you can support teams to think differently about approaching the management of challenging behaviours?

Then this role might be for you

As part of your role you'll be trained to deliver training in our new management of violence and aggression package (delivered by the General Services Association (GSA)), across the Trust on a regular basis.

The rest of your time will be spent on our Cove Ward, supporting the staff to embed new ways of working and restraint reduction techniques.

The post holder will be under the direction and guidance of the MAV Lead, and will be required to deliver educational programmes regarding the safe and effective management of patients.

This will include MAPA.

You will act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, using their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service they provide to patients.

You will be flexible in your approach and support the ward in times of change.

You will be expected to deliver brief MAV training sessions within the ward environment and to monitor staff skills to avoid skill fade.

You will be required to deliver search training to inpatient staff.

You will be involved in new and developing training packages and assist in the delivery of these to the wider staff group.

You will be responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the safety pod and other training equipment.

As a MAV link trainer, your working commitments will fall in line with the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act 2018.

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us.

As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals.

Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
