    BAND 7 CYP Specialist Practitioner, Early Intervention in Psychosis

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Specialist Practitioner to join Ealing Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. This new role will offer both clinical and leadership opportunities enabling the post holder to contribute to the continuing service development and to the delivery of excellent clinical care. We are looking for an experienced CYP/CAMHS clinician with drive, enthusiasm and vision to lead and develop the transition pathway. Our candidate will have experience of working with children and young people aged years old with suspected first episode psychosis. They will participate in delivering specialist mental health care to children and young people and their families within the Early Intervention service. The role will include providing interventions and outreach work to children and young people as well as being the safeguarding children lead for the team and being the main interface link with CAMHS, and the Local Authority. You will also lead on multi-agency working, with a number of internal and external stakeholders involved in and essential to the young person's care. This is a fulltime post (WTE 1.0) working Monday to Friday, 9-5 hours. Based at Ealing Early Intervention Service, Cherington House, Cherington Road, Hanwell. Main duties of the job The post holder will provide clinical leadership in facilitating holistic initial assessments, risk management, and delivery of EIP's 7 core interventions in a consistent manner. This will be achieved by working in collaboration with the team manager, lead professionals and the rest of the MDT. The Specialist Practitioner will participate in the review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the service, supporting and implementing changes to practice as necessary. Additionally, they will liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice be able to undertake audit activity and supervision to other staff in service. They will need to have an understanding of psychosocial interventions to include psycho-education, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the team manager in providing effective leadership within a clinical team providing a high quality service within the resources available in the defined area. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • Professional qualification and registration, i.e. MH Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Psychologist
    • Evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice
    • Mentorship/ teaching and assessing qualification
    Desirable
    • First or higher degree in appropriate subject area or equivalent post registration training and experience
    • Specialist therapeutic skills e.g. CBT
    • Post registration training in CAMHS
    • Working towards Masters Level in a CAMHS related subject.
    • Family Work trained
    Experience Essential
    • Demonstrable experience of assessment and working therapeutically with children, adolescents and their families within a mental health setting
    • Demonstrable experience working with young people with in a community setting
    • Experience of working in a number of ways i.e. assertive outreach, clinic based settings, home, school or other appropriate environments
    • Experience of interagency and multidisciplinary working
    • Experience of assessing risk and formulating safe and effective risk management plans
    • Providing and using Clinical Supervision / Reflective Practice
    • Teaching and facilitating skill development of non CYP colleagues
    Desirable
    • Experience of using therapeutic skills, such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Work
    • Experience of management of child protection emergencies
    • Measurable track record of involving and motivating staff to improve performance.
    • Experience of therapeutic work with children and families where abuse or neglect has occurred
    • Experience of contributing to and implementing service developments
    • Working with young people with First Episode Psychosis and/or At Risk Mental State
    Knowledge Essential
    • Specialist knowledge of mental health assessment and treatment of children and young people
    • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the Children's Act 2004, Mental Health Act 1983 & Safeguarding Guidelines
    • Knowledge of the legal issues relating to consent and capacity in children and young people.
    • An awareness and understanding of the issues facing, children, adolescents and their families
    • Knowledge of the Care Plan Approach
    • A sound working knowledge and application of relevant professional code, i.e. professional Code of Practice
    • The Early Intervention in Psychosis model, ethos and practice
    Skills Essential
    • Excellent skills in written and verbal communication able to covey complex, and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professionals both NHS and non NHS
    • Ability to work flexibly with colleagues from a range of disciplines
    • Skills in communicating with children, adolescents and their families or carers
    • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour in possibly distressing situations.
    • Extensive Assessment skills
    • Skills in the use of complex methods of assessment, intervention and management
    • Excellent skills in written and verbal communication able to covey complex, and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professionals both NHS and non NHS
