About The Service
Crosslands, one of Cardiff's Childrens' Homes, is located in the Ely area of Cardiff.
The home is a spacious detached house in its own gardens situated in walking distance of local shops, recreational centres and local amenities.
The house is also in close proximity of the city centre and accessible by all major traffic routes in and out of Cardiff.
Crosslands deliver high quality care to 6 young people between the ages of 11-17 meeting young people's needs by promoting the Signs of Safety Framework which is an innovative strength based approach that provides stable, safe and nurturing placements.
As a team, we strive to provide a restorative, resilient, safe, nurturing and structured environment supporting physical and emotional wellbeing.
The young people may have experienced a breakdown in their family home or previous placement.They have experienced crisis in their lives and as a result may exhibit a range of trauma based symptoms and behaviours.
Our team provide immediate support, ensuring we offer a warm and welcoming environment right from the start.
We recognise and promote young people's individual, unique and diverse needs and, where appropriate, maintain and strengthen their relationships with families, siblings and other people they identify as significant to them.
Our team is made up of a Manager, 2 Deputies, 2 Senior Residential Childcare Officers, 14 Residential Childcare Officers, Waking night staff, 2 Domestic Assistants, 1 Business Support Officer and a Maintenance Person.

We are looking for a
Senior Residential Childcare Officer to come join our team
You must have proven experience of working with young people with complex behaviours in a residential setting.
Working as a Senior Residential Childcare Officer, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the young people - ensuring that they have positive experiences and relationships whilst growing up to enable them to feel safe, secure and confident for their future.
In order to carry out this role you must be able to provide experience and expertise in working with young people at Crosslands to ensure they are fully involved in decision making that affects their lives.
Contributing to the promotion of the young people's health and social wellbeing is essential as is participating in maintaining effective physical, social and emotional environments.
Senior Residential Childcare Officers are the link workers for education and health ensuring the promotion of opportunities and achievements for young people for young people's wellbeing.
Seniors contribute to the assessment of the young person's needs, outcomes and goals developing and reviewing Personal Plans as per regulatory requirements.
As a Senior, you will demonstrate leadership skills and must model good, consistent care to colleagues whilst also supervising and mentoring whilst also at times running the home in the absence of the manager and deputies.
Seniors must contribute to the homes improvements including the planning, co-ordination and implementation of specific projects.
What We Are Looking For From You
As a Senior Residential Childcare Officer, you will play an essential role in caring for the young people.
You will be enthusiastic, emotionally literate and highly motivated with the ability to demonstrate a 'can-do' attitude and ready to go the extra mile, willing to learn and to share experiences.
You will be required to work within a 4 weekly rota where the shift patterns consist of early shifts, late shifts, sleep ins, weekend and bank holiday working.
Working in a positive and respectful manner, you will provide individualised care through the development of professional and effective relationships.
You will be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate and work individually and as part of a team with young people, their families, colleagues, other professionals and external agencies.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
A full time permanent position within an established Children's Home working for Cardiff Council.
In addition to the annual salary, enhancements are paid for evenings (after 8pm), weekends, sleeping in duties and on call.
Continual professional development is encouraged and supported with regular training opportunities.
Formal and informal supervision is provided.
