Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist mental health practitioner or clinical psychologist to work into Liverpool City Council Targeted Services (also known as the Youth Offending Team) and into Liverpool Fresh CAMHS.
The successful candidate will be funded by Liverpool Fresh CAMHS but will sit within the innovative Enhanced Support Team, which was developed in response to the NHS Long Term Plan commitment to further invest in services for children and young people with complex needs.
We are looking for clinicians with a strong grounding in trauma-informed models of care, and who have experience of working with individuals who are at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system or who have offended.
We would also welcome applications from clinicians who have skills and experience in engaging families who are from communities that may be at increased risk of social exclusion or marginalisation.
In the CAMHS side of their role they will undertake appropriate mental health assessment and intervention with children, young people and families.
They will hold responsibility for the management of their own clinical caseload and access supervision and support in line with policy and their own professional requirements.
In the Targeted Services part of their role they will work as part of a smaller clinical team to develop trauma-informed practice and improve outcomes for young people at risk of, or involved in criminal activity.
They will provide advice and consultation on the psychological care of young people to non-psychologist colleagues. This will involve being clinically responsible for complex therapeutic and risk management work with clients who may be highly vulnerable, at risk, suicidal or aggressive.
This work to be undertaken autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.Alder Hey has already earned our place as one of the world's leading children's hospitals, thanks to innovation and pioneering medical work.
We treat 250,000 young patients a year and have a broad range of hospital and community services, serving the local population of children, as well as being a tertiary referral centre for children from across Merseyside, Cheshire and parts of Lancashire, Shropshire and North Wales.
