This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative digital team within a forward looking Trust that values the benefits of digital and is embarking on its ambitious digital journey.

It builds on the successful work from the Global Digital Exemplar Programme.


Reporting to the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), the Deputy CDIO is responsible for overseeing IT-related initiatives that strengthen the Trust's IT services while enabling the Trust to deliver on its digital and data strategy.

The Deputy CDIO provides leadership in all areas of IT management and operations and ensures the organisational effectiveness of the Digital Services department.

The Deputy CDIO is also responsible for developing external relationships, as appropriate, to identify and keep abreast of emerging trends and opportunities in IT.

The Deputy CDIO supervises our team of highly motivated IT professionals, is a member of the Digital Committee, and serves on a variety of Trust committees and boards representing Digital Services.

The Deputy CDIO represents the CDIO in their absence and also functions as a key escalation point for major incidents and critical issues Critically, the Deputy CDIO supports the transformation of the Digital Team from a waterfall to agile programme management based on the Scaled Agile Framework.

They are responsible for overseeing the move to Cloud, implementing O365 and moving to a converged EPR.

The Deputy CDIO directs and manages the day to day operations of the Digital Services department.

Advises the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) and other divisional directors on the both current and future IT capabilities.


Leads on the development of IT policy, strategic and operational plans, aligning IT priorities and actions in support of Trust goals.

Understands how IT decisions impact Trust operations and develops strategies for communicating these decisions and achieving desired results.

Oversees and provides guidance on cross-department initiatives to ensure collaboration, financial planning, and project delivery

Ensuring the Trust meets all DH/NHS targets, risk management standards and quality checks in relation to ICT


Advises, offers guidance, and provides organisational perspective to the Patient Facing, Clinical Systems, Business Intelligence and Information Management, Support services, and Technology portfolios, Digital PMO to combine planning efforts, escalating and remediating issues when needed.


Develops, maintains, and communicates processes for effective delivery of Digital services and works with IT service providers/vendors to enhance services based on user evaluations and other quality measures.


Proposes, develops, and enhances IT-related initiatives that will strengthen Trust wide IT services, while helping the Trust to improve patient care.
