    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macmillan Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care team at Northampton General Hospital as a Practice Educator.

    As an integral part of a dedicated and innovative team, the post holder will lead on and deliver quality palliative and end of life care education across the trust.

    This role includes clinical working within the specialist palliative care team as part of seven day service provision. Significant palliative care knowledge and skills will be required alongside extensive teaching and education experience.

    The post holder will demonstrate a broad range of effective communication skills and have a clear passion for supporting learners and consequently enhancing delivery of quality palliative and end of life care.

    We have also entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.

    As a member of the Trust's Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care Team, the post-holder will
    be the Lead for Palliative and End of Life care Education and Practice Development. development and implementation of a comprehensive trust wide education and training
    programme to improve the quality of adult palliative and end of life care delivery.
    Lead nurse /deputy lead nurse for specialist palliative and end of life care
    Clinical lead for specialist palliative and end of life care
    Specialist palliative care team, CNS's and nurses
    Inpatient ward teams, sisters, matrons, medical staff, AHPs, housekeeping and domestic
    Non-malignant specialist teams (such as respiratory, heart failure, outreach, dementia)
    PALS and complaints team
    Quality improvement team
    Professional practice development team
    Medical education team
    Foundation Trust (NHFT)
    Education and training
    Substantial post registration experience in healthcare in a professional post with specialist palliative care experience
    Evidence of both relevant and recent continuous professional development
    Relevant teaching and assessing qualification, alongside significant teaching experience
    Post registration course in palliative care or relevant field
    Advanced communication skills training
    Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
    Significant post registration experience, some of which must have been in specialist palliative care preferably at a CNS level
    Experience of supporting and teaching within clinical; areas and facilitating both group and one to one education sessions
    Clear, up to date and thorough knowledge of palliative and end of life care clinical and professional issues, including statutory frameworks and national policy
    Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating education programmes to a variety of audiences
    Advance care planning experience
    Experience of working collaboratively within education systems
    Experience of data analysis and audit evaluation, conference presentation
    Experience of project management
    Ability to develop and foster constructive multi-disciplinary working and support a caseload of patients when appropriate
