Job Purpose
The Finance Industrial Placement is really important to us.

This is a fantastic opportunity whereby you will be split into two areas of Finance over your 12-month placement (6 months in each area) in either of the following departments; Accounting & Financial Control, Financial Operations, Group or Commercial.

We would love to welcome you to our Crewe HQ, working hours of Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Our Finance placement is for students with a year in industry as a compulsory or optional element of their degree programme.


Your responsibilities day to day will be

Accounting & Financial Control;
The Accounting and Financial Control team are responsible for financial reporting and control framework.

  • Production of monthly management accounts, including P&L and detailed balance sheet reconciliations, using accounting platforms, such as, Sage 200, Sage X3, SAP, NetSuite
  • Bank reconciliations and production of cashflow forecasts across multiple legal entities reporting the actual cash position and forecasted cash balances
  • Provide financial reporting insight and analysis comparing results against budget/reforecast/prior year and presenting to business stakeholders

Financial Operations;
The Financial Operations team are responsible for transaction data management, customer billing and direct debit processing.

  • Operational data, including imports of transaction files from data providers and exports to third parties
  • Maintenance of pricing and margin reports, working with the Commercial teams to ensure all customer pricing is correctly updated and creating weekly margins for review and approval
  • Generation, review and distribution of customer invoices

Group;
The Group Finance function is responsible for Group Reporting, Treasury and Tax.

In this team you will get experience of one of the following:


  • Assisting in preparing the Corporation Tax and Statutory accounts
  • Assisting in validating payments and monitoring the level of cash required to fund day to day working capital requirements
  • UK & overseas VAT returns.

Commercial;
The Commercial team is responsible for the reporting and analysis to support, challenge and help drive business performance.

  • Sales reporting how are we performing at a product and territory level against our forecasts
  • Trading reviews preparing detailed KPI packs to understand and articulate monthly performance
  • Commission schemes understanding and preparing the schemes used to drive sales volume and behaviours
  • Deep dive analysis into emerging risks and opportunities, helping to shape our growth.

What do we expect of you?

  • You must be in your 2nd year of a 3year programme or 3rd year of a 4year programme
  • You must be able to take on a full 12month placement this coming summer
